Quality Management

The IGL Labor is seen as an innovator, both analytically and methodically as well as from a medical perspective. Continuous training ensures the high standard of quality for the future.

For 10 years, the IGL laboratory has maintained a quality management system that complies with the requirements of the 2008 guidelines of the German Medical Association and supplements them in numerous points. Furthermore, quality and competence are checked and confirmed in regular expert assessments.

The private entrepreneurial character of the company allows us to modify procedures in all areas of investigation and to establish new procedures in order to advance research and laboratory routine.

  • The internal quality controls are carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the German Medical Association (RiliBÄK).
  • External quality assurance is regularly ensured by split samples

Measurement accuracy

Information on the measurement uncertainty of the quantitative test method is available on request at any time.

The measurement uncertainty summarizes the scattering of measurement results, which arises from the fact that certain deviations from the "true" values occur in each individual process within an analysis run. The information relates to the analytical precision and correctness.

Split-Samples

The IGL laboratory participates in or initiates testing using split samples. Split sample analysis can be defined as the analysis of a sample by a primary method (method used by laboratory x) and a comparator method (a similar method used by a y-certified laboratory).
Split samples can be used to determine the following:

  • the relative accuracy of a given test method
  • the linearity of an instrument compared to a reference instrument
  • as a surrogate for proficiency testing
  • to check the accuracy of testing of non-regulated analytes for which the laboratory does not participate in proficiency testing.

We are most interested in generating as high quality as possible. To achieve this, we make use of state-of-the-art equipment, such as:

  • The latest analysis kits
  • the most modern methods in chromatography, e.g. mass spectrometry, gas chromatography, intracellular pH measurement, etc.
  • regular and intensified training of our staff at the highest level
  • regular in-house training and colloquia
  • attendance of congresses and international seminars
  • exchange of experience with other international scientists
  • University connection
  • complete, automated documentation of all results from analyses, calibrators and standards

The IGL laboratory refers to the difference in results between two instruments analysing the same samples. Differences are caused by different instrument technology and manufacturing, the use of different methods to perform the analysis or different reagents. We consider the analysis of split samples important because the bias between some instruments is large enough to affect the laboratory's assessment. Ideally, the comparison of results of an analyte between laboratories should be performed on identical instruments, using the same procedure and reagents.
